Try to only use black and white newspaper as they don’t have the chemicals which are found in coloured newspaper. Always use a good quality compost (preferable organically certified) when potting up your seeds or seedlings for the best results.
Getting Things Done with David Allen
David Allen speaks at google explaining the concepts behind Getting Things Done(GTD). He shows how to identify when you are off track and how to get back on. One point that I liked was that we can only store a few reminders in our head. We need to develop systems so we can overcome these limitation and juggle more responsibilities. One of the most simple things we can do is to put reminders in places where they will be noticed when required. If you can do this properly you can let go of the task completely as you know the reminder will be in the right place when required. This is a big stress release as we can let go thinking about the task but we can also let go thinking about the reminder.

Rubbish is one product our society makes very well. We make mountains and oceans of it. We dump it in holes and in the sea, bury it and burn it. But when we run out of holes, when the sea can not take any more, and when we get sick of smoke in our eyes, what do we do then?
One answer given by those who are concerned about our soils and food production system is: “Compost it and return it to the soil”. They are, of course, referring to the many organic materials that we throw away or burn – lawn clippings, leaves, weeds, sawdust, paper, kitchen scraps, seaweed, etc. The compost heap can convert this bulky “rubbish” into a soil improver and fertiliser. This booklet is about the science and art of making compost, and has a bit of philosophy too.

Greensumption is the green washing of products to make them more appealing to the eco customer. Companies are now exploiting this green wave with products that are not really green as there are hidden unsustainable problems. One example is importing organic food from the other side of the world. General consumption needs to be reduced for there to be a real effect not just buying corporate green products.

Established in 1992 by members of the Noosa Malibu Club, the Noosa Festival of Surfing was as an amateur longboard surfing competition called the Noosa Malibu Classic. In 1996 a professional division was introduced and prompted the eventual name change to The Noosa Festival of Surfing in 1998.
The 2008 Global Surf Industries Noosa Festival of Surfing(NFoS) is ready to launch into the next phase. USM Events with its major event partners and the Noosa Malibu Club will introduce a range of elements into the Festival by increasing the competitive disciplines, more music and entertainment as well as showcasing some of Australia’s biggest industry brand and product names in a SURFEXPO.
Another new initiative is the Tropicsurf Summit which is industry leaders coming together under one banner in one location to discuss issues affecting the environment and other issues across all industries and forms of business. In addition with the commitment of the surfing industry to sustaining the beautiful beaches and coastlines of the world. The 2008 Festival will adopt an eco-conscious attitude with the hope of establishing guidelines for future events in Noosa and Australia for better recycling, better waste management , better fuel efficiency, and a clean and green festival.
